A Picture is Worth A Thousand Cringes....

As I'm sure many of you have seen, President Obama shared a friendly moment with Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez.

What's particularly scary to me is not the fact that Obama met with Chavez, it is that the Venezuelan dictator appeared so happy and eager to meet with Obama. I understand many of my liberal friends will be overjoyed that the United States has, seemingly, entered a new era of diplomacy with nations we have not been so open with over the past several years. However, allow me to assure you, that there are reasons for this.

Hugo Chavez is a horrible dictator who models himself strongly after Cuban leaders Fidel and Raul Castro, epecially Fidel. Chavez is a life-long Bolivarian and has instituted the destructive policies Bolivarianism advocates. For those of you who are unaware of the term 'Bolivarian', allow me to present a very brief history lesson (after all, I am highly educated): The term is derived from the Spanish 'freedom fighter' Simon Bolivar. Bolivar is credited with aiding the freedom of Venezuela, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, and Bolivia and is still considered a revolutionary and hero among these countries. Bolivar advocated a strong government and iron-fisted leadership, as well as, a union of Latin American countries to control the region. Please understand, I am not vilifying Simon Bolivar. He was actually a very staunch supporter of the American Revolution and believed it was within the colonist's natural rights to declare independence. My issue is that modern Bolivarianism promotes a radical agenda (usually adopted by guerrillas within these nations) and causes great unrest in much of Latin America.

In recent years, a new form of Bolevarianism has arisen, called Chavismo, or Chavezism. This ideology is derived heavily from Marxism and the teachings of Noam Chomsky. Some of the main tenants of this belief are: anti-imperialism, strong central government (authoritarian), socialist policies (health care, etc), control of information (television, internet), etc.

Now, with that out of the way, allow me to get to the crux of my argument: It scares me that Chavez seems to embrace, not Obama, but his policies. One of my main litmus tests for a politician is to see who his/her enemies are. I was very comfortable with Sadaam Hussein, Fidel Castro, Kim Jong Il, Hugo Chavez, and other scum hating President Bush. However a red flag rises in my mind when I see how open these dictators are now to President Obama. We not only have Hugo Chavez extending his hand, we now have the Castros doing so as well. This concerns me. This makes one wonder why these socialist dictators are now embracing the U.S. with open. arms. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but only time will tell.

Update: CNN Reporter Gets Slammed

This is a brief update to the story of a CNN anchor shamefully treating a TEA party protester. Apparently, following the initial interview, a woman confronts the anchor and gives her a small piece of her mind (Stay tuned after the original interview):

See, this is what makes Conservatives so different from other groups. We do not need to 'mob' somebody to convey our point. We can stand on our own and, intelligently, defend our principles. Just on a side note, I wonder how many anti-war protesters this 'hard hitting' CNN reporter treated like this? Bravo to this woman for taking on this reporter, bravo!

'Anti-Government', 'Anti-CNN' Tea Parties (Video)

This video made the rounds today on all of the conservative media outlets, as a CNN reporter bashes the crowd at a Chicago T.E.A. party, for no apparant reason. It is obvious to me that she was not going to give this guy a chance to have is say from the very beginning. before she even talks to him, she says that he brought his two year old. This in itself is fine, but it is said in a very deamining way, as to infer that this is not the proper place to bring a child. She continues to cut him off and act like an arrogant..well, you watch it:

I know many liberal readers will say that Fox News and conservative commentators berate guests like this all the time, however it is usually then passed off as opinions by COMMENTATORS, not some random news reporter who wants to get her two cents in! She needs to learn to just do her job and let Campbell Brown et al do theirs. I let Shephard Smith, of Fox News, sum up the remainder of my comments:

Greetings everyone! I would like to, first and foremost, thank all of you for taking the time to read my musings and gripes as they relate to the current state of our political system.

Allow me to briefly introduce myself and discuss my background: I was born, raised, and currently reside in Huntsville, Alabama. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Political Science and my JD.
I have harbored a life-long interest in politics and have studied the political arena for years.

Alabama has several blogs that are informative and intruiging however, I feel that these blogs do not adequately express many of the issues that face the people of Alabama, and the nation as a whole. It is important to note in this first blog entry that I am not 'politically correct'. I do not back down from issues that many other bloggers are 'afraid' of, or merely mention as a footnote. I would also like this to serve as a forum for people who would like to discuss the pressing issues of the day with intellect and respect rather than partisanship and hatred. This blog is to be guided by the people! Whatever you would like to talk about is fair game for me and WILL be addressed. It is my lofty goal that this blog continue for longer than a week and become a, somewhat, active community. As a matter of fact, if the blog does become popular (and by that I mean two readers) I will create a formal website and forum.

Allow me to briefly outline a few of my key political beliefs so that there will be no confusion:
1) I support the soldiers from all branches of the U.S. military
2) I am a fiscal conservative
3) I am pro-life
4) I support the 2nd Amendment
5) I believe in small, limited government.
6) We need to drill domestically and we need to do it NOW! I also believe that it is our (the United States) responsibility to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
7) I believe a new tax code, or tax reforms, are necessary to reverse the current condition of our economy.
8)
'Bailing out' corporations and industries that self destruct is not under the purview of the United States government, nor should it be the responsibility of the American tax payer.

These are just a few of my key political beliefs and, I'm sure, as I post you will discover more. I believe now, more than ever, is the optimum time for this blog to begin because as many Americans as possible need their voice heard.

Again, this is my first attempt at blogging and, hopefully, it doesn't show too much! Please leave your comments and observations below
